I rant often about those days when WEQX's All-Request Retro Lunch runs toward the predictable and overplayed. ("All 'Love Shack' all the time!") There are those times, however, when such material is more than welcome.

Today, in an uncharacteristic bit of civic-mindedness, they aired the Governor Spitzer resignation speech. And I swear, there was not even a second's hesitation after the final "Thank you" before the opening trumpet-and-guitar blasts of Midnight Oil'S "Beds Are Burning" came slamming down.

WEQX, regardless of how one feels about the whole controversy, I must say that you rock.

Let's see, what would've been funnier? "Heart of Glass" by Blondie? I'll have to think on that.

Whoa: right now, speaking of cool requests, my station's request segment is ending with "88 Lines About 44 Women!"

I would have opted for Walk on the Wild Side, preferably the mashup with Imagine by George W. Bush and the Party Party.
