On to food! I had an interesting thought today; unfortunately, that thought involved dipping wasabi peas in dark chocolate. No, I haven't tried it yet. Also, it's amazing how quickly I burned through that box of Mochi Choco Balls (which is why I'm going to start stringing up hostages until somebody gets around to opening a damned Asian grocery in this god-forsaken stretch of festering nowhere).

Which reminds me, I still need to post about last weekend. We were graced by the presence of the lovely [livejournal.com profile] issendai, who:
* ricocheted off another car and nearly caromed through a guard rail on a patch of black ice on the way over Friday night from Boston
* brought a few sacks of Asian snack rations (see below)
* made wonderful conversation (until 4 a.m. Friday and I-don't-know-how-late on Saturday)
* went nuts in SensibiliTeas, an amazing little tea shop here in town that [livejournal.com profile] zarhooie introduced me to
* drove the lot of us down to Saratoga, joining us for lunch at Little India and dessert at Mrs. London's
* treated us to a late breakfast at Cracker Barrel, and slipped us candy buttons and a gift card for a future visit
* made me ridiculously happy with her presence
Hoping she comes back soon....

Oh, and the snacks! In addition to the aforementioned wasabi peas and Mochi Choco Balls, and boxes of strawberry wafers and lovely fresh-baked coconut buns and bags of mango and kiwi gummis, she brought along a box of durian wafer cookies. This was on my suggestion, since I hadn't tried durian in any form, but was aware of its cult following and its reputation of being tasty but reeking like the Angel of Death's sneakers. Verdict: not bad, taste-wise, but the reputation proves true, in that I had to wrap the now-open package in not one, not two, but three plastic grocery sacks, in order to enter the apartment without passing out. Good times!

Wasabi Peas!:D

That reminds me, my Pocky supply has been depleted for some time now. This must be remedied without delay.:D

See, and this would be another reason for you guys to come up to Convergence this summer - and stay an extra day and we can take you buy United Noodle so you can stock up on all your Asian goodies. :)
