Injury, meet insult: not only has our rent been jacked up by $60 a month on the new lease agreement we received this afternoon, but our attempt to order a pizza from Green House, home of the best wings I have ever tasted, was met with a recording stating that the restaurant has gone out of business. (Yes, [livejournal.com profile] issendai, this was the place we ordered from just this past Saturday.) Someone please for to point me toward this day's testicles, so that I may kick them. Thank you.

On the other hand, I did have a caller this evening who insisted that he shouldn't have to pay for directory assistance under the Freedom of Information Act.

Did you explain the concept of a "phone book" to the caller?

I here there's this "internet" thingy that works real well for that too.

Me, I wish the telco would *stop* dumping phone books in my driveway. Bloody useless, the things are. Half my friends don't use landlines and the half that do, live in group houses where the phone is in someone else's name. And, like I said, the internets pwns over phone books. No dead trees, you don't have to recycle the old ones every year, etc., etc.

I agree, but I went with phone book because not everyone has the internet, but the dude clearly has a phone.

When it comes to calling businesses I'd sure rather look them up in the Yellow Pages than go to the computer, get on the Internet, and try to narrow down the one I want in Google.

Sixty bucks a month rent hike in *Glens Falls*? Where do they think they are, Boston? For that matter, we don't get that kinda rent hikes around here. (OTOH I could see it if your heat is rolled into the rent; the landlords must be getting slammed pretty hard with fuel costs.)

Ahem.

Here in Wonderland, we have bylaws that state you can't hike people's rent more than *searches for the paperwork* 2.6% per year.

Look to see if there's a similar bylaw protecting you.
