Onward! It's right about now that I'm thanking whichever deities are appropriate that I went with a 256-name bracket this time out; during last year's 512 movie blowout, it took nearly a month just to get through round 1. But here we are at Round Three already, looking forward to putting this thing to rest next week. So, same as it ever was: for each pairing, choose the director you prefer, by whatever criteria run your little red wagon. And yes, it's still two separate polls, so be sure to click both Submit buttons.

Deadline for this ballot is Tuesday, May 13 at 1 p.m. This poll is closed; all votes have been recorded. Thanks, all!

De Palma made it to the third round? Talk about an easy draw.

The toughest choice here (and there were a lot of them) was Wise/Coppola, partially because of their similarities -- when they were good, they gave us absolute classics, but when they weren't, they gave us Dracula and Star Trek: The Motion Picture.

Wise never gave us Jack. I remember thinking that must've been made by Alternate Reality Coppola. (Yes, I saw it -- borrowed from the library -- probably mainly because I wanted to hear Michael Kamen's score, which is actually good and better than the film deserves.)

But yeah, that was a tough choice.
