I'm rather concerned about this.

Our work contract ends in 25 hours.
The Union and the company have been wrangling steadily, but as yet it's very unclear as to whether they will reach any sort of agreement in time.
If they do not succeed in reaching an agreement, we will strike.
A strike (provided it's not too protracted) is survivable, yes.

However.

When we strike, all of us will be required to picket for a certain amount of time every week.
While picketing, we show solidarity by dressing similiarly.
In particular, they distribute matching T-shirts for everyone on the picket line.
The shirts are the same color every time, a particular shade associated with our Union.
That color is red.

Yes, we're going out there as 60,000 red-shirts.

I'm rather concerned about this.

In theory, if not in practice.

"I don't even have a last name!"
Definitely reason for concern IMO :-p

'T will make walking back and forth with a big ol' sign for eight hours somewhat uncomfortable.

Well, but, isn't it usually just one token redshirt that dies to show how serious the situation is?

Surely if there are thousands of you, the bad guys will be overwhelmed with the wealth of targets...

Well, true, my odds are relatively good in the "open fire at Second Lieutenant Matthews" regard. That said, I'm not sure that embracing a symbol that amounts to a big honking "EXPENDABLE" sign on our backs is really the best message to be sending at this juncture.

Ehh, could be worse: five years ago, they gave us shirts (red) with pictures of cobras and the slogan, "When provoked, will strike." So wanted to take a Sharpie and add, "Talk like Yoda, we will."

Ooo. Now that, genties and ladlemen, is a fanfic that needs to be written. "Pfft. You want that dark cave investigated, Velour Sweater Boy? Go investigate it yourself."

Oh, no, no, the problem isn't whether I'm old-school Trek; it's whether they are. And I assure you, this is a Captain Kirk corporation if there ever was one. (Moot point, luckily, as strike has been averted. Woohoo!)
