Just got a call from my Union contact:

NO STRIKE.

Apparently, there has been significant progress made at the bargaining table, enough that the Union leaders are willing to work without a contract until negotiations have been hammered out.

That whooooosh you hear is an Uzbekistan-sized sigh of relief.

They actually reported on this on the radio this morning. It was just a brief, "A strike has been averted because management has blah blah", not more than a thirty second spot, but it was mentioned.
