Thing is, it wasn't one of the stupid / belligerent / abusive / bat-whack customers. No, no, he was a very nice older gentleman with some sincere questions about his service. He had just signed up with our company, you see, and he wasn't clear on the features available to him.

The problem is, he very courteously said, "I have the new Reach Around America plan."

To my credit, I managed to hold out until after I had safely dispatched the nice man to the Business Office. Then I unplugged my headset and fell out of my chair laughing. (I'm wondering what "Reach Around America" says about the quality of our service, to tell you the truth.)

*dies laughing*

Dude. I am SO glad I no longer work in customer service. I would not have made it off the phone. I'd've been desperately praying for a mute button.

The customer still gets bent over and used up like a free bookmark, but they do at least get some service?

I lost it when I read this. Oh, customer service jobs, sometimes you really pay off.

That's the main advantage of my old position, everything was through chat so I could laugh all I wanted :-p

When I did that job, I managed to develop the skill of LAUGHING SILENTLY. That was a gift.

Your self-control is exemplary...I don't know if I could have done that without at least one guffaw escaping.
