I've been using the term "meat loaf" when referring to one cat or the other lately. No secret why:



Unfortunately, our cats fail the feline/meatloaf Kliban-Turing test a good chunk of the time. Lazy little gits.

In non-meat loaf news, I have a new mix CD for the car designed to raise me from the dead in the morning. A sonic double espresso, if you will. It's a fairly straightforward up-tempo-and-loud-thank-you-very-much affair with the occasional ringer (for some reason, Tori Amos's "Bliss" has always been a pure adrenaline shot for me). Until the end, that is—I figure that if I get through 18 tracks of car-moshing without fully waking up, desperate measures are called for. Thus, second track from the end is Dokaka's all-vocal cover of "Smells Like Teen Spirit." If that doesn't work, we leap right into "Do the BIM" from the Apple soundtrack. I pray that I don't ever make it through to the end: the Legendary Stardust Cowboy number will probably kill me. (Does it count as unnecessary brutality if it's self-inflicted?)

Tonight, I'm taking a break from my cocoa habit for a Mike's Hard Lemonade. One of those days.

Oh, no, no: it's an 8-disc mix now. Oy, my head.... (The main reason it hasn't been sent is money for sleeves/jewel cases and the fact that poor prairieflower has been waiting for years for her copy. It'll get there, I promise.)

Reminds me of a fat cat we saw at a garden center once - it was skulking about the potted plants, looking for mice. The owner, an older lady, called out, "Muffin? You behave, now..."

My spouse, sotto voce: "Muffin? It's more like a loaf!"
