In light of Arisia and all that such entailed:

I hereby declare 2009 to be the Year of the Corset.

Thank you. Pass it on.

(Seriously, you would not believe the number of times the phrase, "We're going corset-shopping" got uttered this weekend. Not only that, but the corsetry that did get purchased tended to be of phenomenal quality and gorgeously constructed. I...yes. Just yes. As a wise person said, "This is an awfully pretty Con this year.")

I found the most perfect, stunning corset this year. But alas... it was either the corset or the art I had bid on up at the art show. And art won out. I can get a corset at anytime. This was something unique.

I agree, this year needs more corsets than last year had.

I rang in the new year in a corset... and then out of it... so i have no objection to this proclamation.

phenomenal quality and gorgeously constructed

Also, they were generally very well fitted. The vast majority of the corsetry being worn (at least what I saw) did not have the too-common failure mode in which the corsetry makes the wearer look like certain body parts have been inadvertently attached upside down.

Every year should be the year of the corset. *nods decisively*
