This weekend is Blogathon, the annual event where stalwart bloggers of all persuasions blog continuously for 24 hours, one post every 30 minutes from 9 a.m. EST Staurday to 9 a.m. EST Sunday, to raise money for charity. I've participated three years in a row ('06 through '08), and lemme tell you it was wicked-strenuous and bucketloads of fun in equal measure, with new friends made every year. Sadly, this year I ran headlong into the twin-headed beast of squonky work scheduling and a lack of personal mental and emotional resources, so I shan't be participating, although I'm very much hoping to pick it up again in 2010. Sigh.

However, there are several people reading this who are poised to take the challenge, all in support of worthy causes. If you have the resources to make a donation to any of them, however small, please consider doing so; you'll have their eternal gratitude, and mine as well. Folks on my f'list who will be 'Thonning tomorrow include (click on the respective links to donate):

* [livejournal.com profile] shadesong will be blogging for the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center.
* [livejournal.com profile] eustaciavye will be blogging for Medical Students for Choice.
* [livejournal.com profile] mllelaurel will be blogging for the Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts.
* [livejournal.com profile] spoothbrush will be blogging for Doctors Without Borders.
* [livejournal.com profile] nevacaruso will be blogging for Amnesty International.

And by all means, please be sure to tune in to each of their blogs this weekend! One, because all are talented writers, and two, once you've blogged for 16 or 17 hours straight, the brain melts down to lukewarm tapioca, which is where the fun begins.

Thank you!

Thanks for the plug! I got very little sleep last night, so I suspect that the fun will start pretty early for me.
