In a fit of boredom, I've changed my LJ layout for the first time since I started the thing seven years ago. *fireworks* *ticker tape* Yes, this is your cue to start up the oompah band and send in the dancing Swedish girls and the trained monkey act. With only marginally more foreplanning, I've also changed the title of said journal from "Get that wasp off my sandwich" to "Fond of rumpots, crackpots, and how are you, Mr. Wilson?" I'll take Obscure Cultural References for $600, Alex. (The default icon, however, is still the one I started with, and always will be. Vive la tapir, or, um, something.)
Meanwhile, a doozy of a thunderstorm is brewing, and unrelatedly,
rafaela and I have been consuming unhealthy amounts of coffee milk lately. I mention this last factoid because I've been telling everyone, mostly because it's the only opportunity I'll have to accurately use the phrase "Rhode Island delicacy" in casual conversation.
Yes, I stayed up too late last night, which is probably a good chunk of why the butter has slipped off my proverbial noodles (a just-busy-enough day contributed as well), but not nearly as late as the folks who did Blogathon. Congratulations to everyone who took on the journey and survived, and thanks on their behalves to everyone who contributed, and especially to those who played pit crew and kept them fed, entertained and marginally awake. Love you guys!
Right, that'll do, Tapir. Early bedtime for me.

Date: 2009-07-27 05:35 pm (UTC)I'm thinking of setting up a multi-discipline salon, and holding it at my home quarterly to start, but eventually as often as a monthly thing. It would involve visual artists, writers, poets, and crafters, as well as artists of every stripe who might care to come along.
Each meeting would have a couple or three people specifically appointed to present, perform, display, or read, and the evening could also include discussion forums, or theatrical readings, or even just nattering. The idea is to begin to create a pool of artists whose interest is in supporting each other's efforts, and discussing them in a salon environment. At present, it's all rather mushy and conceptual, but I'm already considering my first three invited presenters.
