The Noise of Endless Wars: Cranked out a couple of pages on chapter 11 this morning. It was less than a thousand words, but still more than I'd done in a single sitting in months—especially impressive given current brainspace [see below]. I'm actually seeing the shape of the chapter as a whole, which is more than I could say prior to today (which is a big chunk of why it's been like extracting molars lately). We'll see how this goes.

Con Game: The Sci-Fi Convention Card Game: Rough draft is, shockingly, done. (It seems I underestimated the power of job-related boredom for getting Things That Aren't Work done at the office. Silly me.) I still need to tweak a few of the cards, but it's basically playable; what I need to determine now is if it's any fun. Sadly, I suspect the answer is "no," but I'll run it through some alpha testing and see what's what.

Puzzles in general: Sold one to Games this week. Need to get off my duff and send them more—they've been incredibly supportive over the years, and it would be foolish of me to let that slide.

Music: I got in touch with [livejournal.com profile] octoberland about possibly doing a filk set at Pi-Con in August, and apparently there's some support behind this. I just need to send off an e-mail to the proper parties and see if we can hammer something out. I'm currently equal parts of "Squee!" and "Holy flaming bugnuts, what am I doing?" Also, my brain spontaneously disgorged the single best line I've written in several years, which is probably completely unusable. C'est la guerre.

Personal health: Here, sadly, I fail. [livejournal.com profile] rafaela was laid up this morning with a case of the Encroaching Mongolian Misery Crud, and it would appear that it's knocking at my skull now and asking permission to enter, the denial of which will not stop it. Bleagh.

Spirit: Blessed Imbolc, all! (Or Happy Groundhog Day, depending. It's all good.) I didn't remember that this holiday is all about creation until I started writing this post. Go, subconscious, go!

Congrats on all the productivity! The card game sounds awesome. And I really do hope you can work something out for the filk at Pi-Con. I'm personally not into filk but I would love for you to be there and to be able to do something you love.

And blessed Imbolc back at you. :)

Thank you so much for all your help! I'm still not entirely convinced that I actually qualify as a "filker," since I don't have many ties to the filk community (or really to filk in general, since I've, well...*lowers voice* been actively avoiding the stuff for nearly 20 years*COUGH*) But I love writing and performing, and most of my newer material has fallen into the genre for reasons unknown (seriosuly, I have no idea why), so I should probably stop fighting it and just embrace it. Also, I haven't done a full set since the first term of the Clinton administration, so I'm really excited just to be in front of an audience again.

*hugs upon hugs*
