An update of various bits of randomalia:

1) That whooshing sound you might have heard was the sound of me sighing with relief: Harold the Hoopty Olds is now fixed, stickered and street-legal, with brakes that don't play mariachi tunes and windshield wipers that actually have their choreography down. And it only cost me four figures! *hari-kiri* Situation best summarized by the following Actual Conversation:
Woman at Repair Place: So, that'll be [very large sum of money].
Me: Thank you. Would you like the arm or the leg first?
Woman at Repair Place: Whichever is most convenient.

2) One of our bookshelves has Issues with a capital "Ish," in that it's shallow and top-heavy [insert reference to favorite reality television star here], and has a tendency to lean forward a bit under the best conditions. This led to what can be referred to as an "incident" the other day (where "incident" equals "unfortunate defeat in a battle with gravity"), so our already squalid living area looks like it was either pounded by a paperback tsunami or sacked by a wandering horde of Visigoth librarians. I've decided to treat this as a blessing in disguise, though: the shelves in question are really better suited to DVDs and will actually hold the whole collection, which the previous shelving situation couldn't claim; in addition, changing the shelves' purpose also meant a location change, which meant dispensing with a bunch of boxes that frankly had needed dispensing for years now. Apartment is slowly getting back to normal. Slowly.

3) I gots me some Girl Scout Cookies. Abbey's in scouting, so yeah, I've got the hookup. Awwww, yeah.

4) Being without a vehicle has meant an extended hiccup in my Taste Something New Every Day in 2010 project, so I'm probably going to need to do an extended day-long splurge at some point to get caught up. [livejournal.com profile] rubian77 helped by sending a small package of carob spirulina bars, which are quite tasty, and I've grabbed a few things here and there when possible, but something tells me a strafing run through the shops and eateries of Boston is in order.

7) At Arisia, [livejournal.com profile] issendai gave me her old PlayStation 1 system, and I finally borrowed some suitable games from my ex-inlaws and got the system going. Woohoo! (Quote from [livejournal.com profile] rafaela on the matter: "Oh, God, I've lost him.") It's got wireless controls, too, whihc is nifty, except that I'm quickly finding out just how much body English I use, mostly by tracking my cussing when the character won't move because I'm leaning left and losing the signal.

23) Right now? I just want a month to myself, so that I may spend time with everyone I want and need to spend time with, uninterrupted and unconstrained. My kingdom for that, Powers That Be.

9126) Feeling a bit down tonight, in spite of all the good that's been happening. Don't know why.

My resident house-goblin knocked over my bookcase last weekend!

(At 6fuckingamonafuckingsunday!)

I haven't had the spoons yet this week to get around to actually cleaning up the books strewn across my bedroom floor.

Aiee. I feel for you. We've dealt with the books, but the papers strewn on top of said bookcase are still taking up floor space. I can't seem to find the gumption to get it done.

PS 1? Muahahahahahaha!
My battle cry is "C.mon, DIE already!" And I have. A LOT.

It's a loooong slippery slope! XD
Doesn't matter if it's sports, rpgs or silliness in general, it's a massive suck of time and numbers crunching: :D

Girl Scout cookies!! Are they made from real girl scouts? (*badoomp*)
(Sorry Gomez, had to ask). You lucky dog. But it is a reminder for me to hie myself to the local public areas today to get/order a few boxes.

So far, I've been saved from the evil by not possessing any appropriate memory cards. It's a bit disheartening having to start all over again every single time.

Just a couple of Crash Bandicoot-related ones, which suits me fine (although one of the cases I snagged was empty, which is upsetting).

I so hear you on that. And another month for projects-catchup.
