The weekend: plus and minus
Apr. 25th, 2010 10:50 pmSo, this weekend. It started off beautifully:
rafaela's friend Josh had invited her to breakfast, so I made the most of being on my own reconnaissance, enjoying a nice walk downtown through gorgeous weather and a long and wonderful chat with
fiddle_dragon about anything and everything. The middle was good, too, in a different way, as I woke up fairly early this morning and attacked the packing monster with enough force that it actually looks something like progress now. And right now isn't bad, either, as I have a peanut butter and banana sandwich and a glass of milk at my side.
Unfortunately, There was also work, which is where everything falls apart. I swear, you could throw cinder blocks at the knots in my shoulders, and the cinder blocks would lose. The only way I could get through my last three hours today without flipping out was literally to hypnotize myself by sitting stock still and watching the seconds tick by on the monitor clock.
The only saving grace was the late-teens-sounding guy who asked me a weird question about the recording he got before I came on, then paused for a long time until I asked if there was anything else I could help him with. He shrugged and said, "I'm just bored." At long last, a simple truth. (When I was done laughing, I told him I could empathize.)
Handy culinary tip: peanut butter and banana sandwiches are tastier if you don't drop the banana slices in cat hair. Fun facts!
