Dear Adam,

I need to have a word about your little plan to get more exercise by always taking the stairs rather than the escalator when exiting the T station. I'm not saying it's a bad plan—on the contrary, it seems to be quite effective. I'm just saying that maybe your plan ought to include a Porter Square exemption. Just a thought.

Yours in pain from the knee down,
Adam

I understand that one. My knees hate climbing stairs, going down is fine, but going up hurts.

I think that is a very good idea. At least exempt all but the top one :)

I nearly broke my semi-daughter the last time I took her into Boston and had her join me on Porter Square Mountain.

But then the escalator there is TERRIFYING if you have even the tiniest touch of vertigo (and always remember stories about people falling through escalator steps and being mangled).
It would help if it wasn't decorated with what look like the severed hands of previous victims.
At least on the regular steps you can stop to cower and cry.
Or just avoid Porter Square T.
