I attempted to get working on The Noise of Endless Wars this evening, and managed to spit out three whole sentences before deleting two of them an hour later. Oh, well. I went back and forth over James Joyce, but left him off by a hair's breadth. I consider Ulysses to be a magnificent book, full of complexity and humanity and beautiful structure, and if there had been 16 he would have been there.
