Both Nik and Abbey had their graduation ceremonies today—Nik from 5th grade (he's being bumped up to another school this fall) and Abbey from junior high. My brain is trying to accommodate the knowledge that I am now the father of an ostensible high school student, and the effort is making my nose bleed. Mazel tov, my dear young ones!

Other than that, the primary activity of the afternoon was getting [livejournal.com profile] figmentj hooked on Phineas and Ferb. Sing along, now: Doofenshmirtz Evil In-cor-por-aaaated! (Well, okay, that and discovering that Kristi and [livejournal.com profile] emilytheslayer know each other, because the universe, it ain't no bigger than a tiny thing, innit?)

Jumping back a topic, Abbey has a definite taste in boys: vaguely sullen.

Also, it has been decreed, and so may it be known, that when I become painfully sleep-deprived I turn into an independent entity known as "Mr. Scribbly-Head," who is much like me except with a bigger vocabulary and no idea what to do with it. Plus an occasional penchant for hats. And that's one to grow on, kids.

I happen to have one of the aforementioned teen boys. Shall we just save the trouble and have them secretly betrothed?

What's funny, is how I never even *considered* that it might be the same Kristi. Like, we became Twitter buddies during the MLA conference a few months back, because she knows the same circle of librarians that I know from library school, but we were in different areas of the conference room and never met. I knew your ex-wife's name was Kristi, and I remember you saying that she was at the same conference I was at, and I knew this new Twitter buddy's real name was Kristi *and* that she had kids. HOW DID THIS NEVER OCCUR TO ME? I knew she worked out West of here too! Seriously brain, get quicker on the uptake! I think part of my brain assumed that it would just be *too* much of a coincidence, and she never says the kids names on Twitter, as far as I've seen. I think if she'd said either of their names it would have tipped it over to "wait. . ." but having her ask if we knew each other was GOOD ENOUGH.

When I saw her say that my brain squeezed for a few seconds and then I started cracking up when I figured it out. Man, I'm lucky you guys are so friendly or that would have been super weird, lol!
