We all have our rock star moments

Update on the recording of The Elmsley Count: Holy shinola, it's finally, finally falling into place. I don't know who sprinkled what on my proverbial Wheaties yesterday, but I was on a tear for most of the day, finishing off five (yes, five) tracks by dinnertime, including one that I hadn't even planned on recording until that morning, and another that I hadn't even finished writing until I was soaking in the shower. And as for the recording itself...just...damn. It was almost entirely vocals, which I had been procrastinating on (singing has never been my strong suit) but for some reason found myself totally nailing one after the other. Not just passable, but fantastic, far better than I could have hoped. As in, I've been listening to the new tracks all morning, not because I'm looking for things to fix, but because I like them. That never happens.

So. The Elmsley Count will definitely be released early next week, barring disaster (*knocking wood furiously*). The plan is to release it for sale as a digital download on Tuesday, which is traditional album release day; those of you who show up at the Heather Dale house concert at shadesong and yendi's this coming Monday at 7 p.m., however, will be able to purchase a handcrafted physical copy of the CD a day early. (And speaking of the show, I've just been informed that the entire show, including my opening bit, is going to be vid-streamed live on the Web, with omnisti handling the technical matters. Watch this space and shadesong's online haunts for details!)
