They say that the liminal moments between sleeping and waking hold the seed of true creation. I do believe that to be true, as The Noise of Endless Wars was born from a single dream image that hovered in my conscious mind during a long waking period. On the other hand, you have mornings like the one right before Arisia, when my first thought of the day was, "What does the Death Star smell like?"
This prompted a bit of lively discussion after Arisia was over and the sleep dep was gnawing on our collective hindbrains.
figmentj immediately thought of what the likely actual answer would be—the inside of a commercial airplane—but that didn't stop us from pondering further. Others that came to mind:
* new car smell
* laundromat
* high-school cafeteria
* berry-scented Renuzit (doubly fun if you picture the corridors lined with outlets with little plastic flower-shaped scent infusers)
* microwave popcorn (me: "Or maybe corporate evil?"
figmentj: "Microwave popcorn is the smell of corporate evil.")
So allow me to open this question to the floor: What does the Death Star smell like? (I already know what Vader smells like: Speed Stick, with a hint of Pabst Blue Ribbon.)

The second Death Star must have been even worse. In addition to all the bodily function smells, there are all of the (potentially toxic or noxious) construction smells that aren't going anywhere. So much for OSHA compliance.
