Here is a brief list of things that I discovered do not support my body weight as well as I thought:

1) the shower curtain rod
2) my right arm

In short, I had a cascading gravity-disaster last night, where a slip in the shower led to an outward fall through the curtain; this led to me grabbing the nearest alleged stable point, which was the rod. The rod bent cleanly down the middle, as hollow aluminum poles are wont to do, so my arm reached out for the nearest wall, but what with my downward/forward momentum all that did was succeed in bending my shoulder in a direction shoulders ain't supposed to go.

So ow, is what I'm trying to communicate. It's definitely could have been a lot worse: It's probably just a strain instead of a sprain, and given what could have gone down I got off awfully light. (One foot somehow got hooked sideways under the cabinet door, and I ended up dropping straight down in a straddle over the rim of the tub crotch-first, but the shoulder thing was the only injury of note, thank the relevant deities.) That said, I'm still stuck in my cubicle doing the painkiller cha-cha today, which is annoying, and I'm forced to take it easy on my guitar usage for the next day or two when I'm supposed to be practicing for the not-suprising-anyone surprise Murder Ballads lobby gig at Pi-Con this weekend. Grr and argh, say I.

At least all the major furniture-moving and most of the aggressive closet-emptying was already completed prior to this, so we're nearly done with our spiffy new Apartment 2.0 rejiggering/reapportioning/feng shui adjustment project. [livejournal.com profile] rain_herself cashed in a great deal of bargain-hunt karma this past week, finding us a bunch of free and dirt-ass-cheap furniture and home decor at Goodwill and on Craigslist (liquor cabinet, coffee table, picture frames, gorgeous dresser) and then going all Old English Furniture Polish Ninja on the lot. It's a tiny apartment, but we've got quite a lovely little living space going. You should come visit! (In small groups, please. Not kidding about the tiny.)

I'm trying! Doing much better today; guitar use appears to be within parameters, so I'm going to declare a tentative good prognosis.

Were you really listening to a "Broken Arm" while detailing your shoulder strain? And owie! I have a no falling in the bathtub and no falling out of bed rule. I think you should consider instituting the same at your place.

Glad the injuries weren't more serious!

Well, I do pick my songs these days for relevance and/or irony, but I do make sure I'm actually listening for some part of the process for veracity's sake. And I think I'll be instituting such a rule immediately. *firm nod*

I am, thanks. Well enough to play guitar, anyway, which was my baseline all along. Onward!

Yeah, you've had more than your share of gravitational run-ins. I need to have a work with the physics gods.

Thank you! I'm well on my way: no painkillers so far today, and I'm still functional, more or less.

Thank you, and well on my way! As mentioned above, I can play guitar without screaming, so I'm calling it a qualified success.

Careful, those bathrooms are dangerous when they're hungry!

Apropos of hardly anything: Did you move again?

Not in the last year; still in Worcester. We'd been considering moving to a house at the beginning of the summer, but we didn't have the dough for security deposit and such. Oh, well.
