Personally speaking, I've got a fuckton of misplaced guilt floating about, so self-forgiveness is more than warranted on a thousand different fronts. If you don't carry any of that, then I'm genuinely delighted for you. If that "why would I?" means you don't feel you're worthy of forgiveness, however, I'm going to have to vehemently disagree. Either way, *hugs*.
I will forgive myself for that one time when I was 19 and admitted to a guy I liked new Metallica and he instantly rejected me. It's silly, but whenever I hear a new or old Metallica song, I feel a tinge of embarrassment from that moment. SO WHAT?! He would have been a douche bag anyway.
So what, indeed. Rejecting you for your music preferences? No "would have been" about it—he WAS a douche bag. (And Metallica is pretty damn fantastic, and this is a folk musician talking.)
I really don't feel worthy to be forgiven of *anything.* But today, I have to at least accept the fact that I'm in very bad psychological shape, and I didn't take the car to the mechanic, and I ordered pizza for our lunch instead of going to get groceries, and I have provided zero activities for my son and let him mess around on the computer all day.
Yeah, maybe acceptance will have to be good enough. I can't manage forgiveness.
