For a late after-work dinner, I have just whipped up some chicken and quail egg salad with capers and blue cheese mustard.

I mention this here because (a) it actually came out quite tasty, (b) I'm rather proud, and (c) I'm hoping that this concoction is snooty enough to negate all of the store-brand mac 'n'cheese and A&W cheeseburgers that I usually live on. Unlikely, since tomorrow I'm right back to Shake 'n' Bake pork chops.

Where did you find quail eggs?

I love little eggs.

Pretty much any good-sized Asian grocery should carry them. Mine were courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] issendai, who is sweet enough to bring me goodie bags of Japanese snacks and the like, since she knows there's no decent Asian grocery within a 50-mile radius of here. Generally, the eggs are hard-boiled, peeled, packed in water and canned, but I have the feeling it might be possible to get lucky and find fresh ones, not that I'm holding my breath or anything.

Have you checked a local poultry farm?

I don't know if they have quail, but if they don't they might be able to tell you where you can find some or order some for you. If you're not looking for eggs to incubate, I'd think they'd be less money than fertilized eggs...but I confess, I've never shopped around for quail eggs.
