A good day. A quite good day, indeed. How so, you ask? Allow me to elucidate:

* It was the first day of a four-day weekend.
* Better yet, I had much of it all to myself.
* Abbey woke up, picked out an outfit, and put it on without any prompting. Amazingly, the outfit matched.
* Kristi is spending the entire weekend over at this house. Matter of fact, she's snoozing on the couch at this very moment. She's such a cute sleeper.
* She promised to make her drop-dead-gorgeous Macaroni Quattro Formaggio con Prosciutto tomorrow night, if I bought the ingredients. So I did. There's something very satisfying about buying Gruyere and Gorgonzola in the same shopping trip.
* I successfully assembled a set of bookshelves all by my lonesome. I probably should've had a beer afterwards, but I can't stand the stuff.
* I got the Hindenberg-load of books moved out of the now-playroom, now that I have a place to put them. (I don't have to worry about my mom-in-law pawing the smut and the Wicca sourcebooks any more! Yay!)
* Lunch consisted of the following: maple ham and old-style roast beef on Dutch potato bread with roasted garlic and onion jam, a handful of spiced sweet potato chips, and four asparagus pickles, with a Pepsi to wash it down. I'm reminiscing already.
* Kristi surprised us by picking up pizza and wings on the way over.
* My copy of Raymond Smullyan's To Mock a Mockingbird arrived in the mail.
* The Union announced that they've signed a tentative agreement with the company on a five year contract. I get to keep not only my job, but my medical benefits. And, oh yeah, we get a profit sharing check very soon. Drinks are on me!

If you'll excuse me, I'm going to go make this day perfect by sleeping like a hundred-weight of roofing tiles. G'night, all.

I love you.

This is after beer four, and you have to promise not to tell [livejournal.com profile] johnnyg, or about how it took me like a whole minute, or even two, to type this, or how many times I used the backspace key, but still.

Yep.

Bad beer, bad.

It's back in print? I need this one (as well as about four of his other books) to complete my collection.

Unfortunately, it's not, as far as I know; I got my copy used from Half.com. I was very, very lucky, in that the person selling it didn't really know what he had, which is how I got it in excellent hardcover condition for $15 instead of the $50 to $75 it usually goes for. But yeah, if you're finishing off a collection, that's the way to go. (What else are you missing, by the by?)

Actually, I'm trying to rebuild a collection from scratch, as pretty much everything I owned was sent away when my mom moved. I've only got What is the Name of This Book?, This Book Needs No Title, The Tao is Silent, The Chess Mysteries of Sherlock Holmes, and The Riddle of Scheherazade. Alas, the book I most want to replace, Alice in Puzzle-Land, looks to be the toughest to find.

Alice is the first Smullyan book I ever encountered, and I still love it. Here you go. You're welcome.

Thanks. Actually, finding it isn't so much the issue, as finding it at a decent price. :-)

I Want A Recipe. This sounds yummy.

Just FYI: The LJ spell check suggests replacing DiMaggio for Formaggio, and (for completeness sake) Quarto for Quattro. Interestingly enough, the phrase "con Prosciutto" went through without a hitch. So, this recipe should be rechristened Macaroni Quarto DiMaggio con Prosciutto. It'll be a real hit!

Congrats. Sounds like things are moving your way.

I'll post the recipe soonly. It's way happy (enough so that I can overlook the fact that it came from *cough* Martha Stewart.)

And for the record, "Quarto Dimaggio" cracks me up.
